CASTING CALL FOR CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY THESIS:
• LOCATION: Orange, CA
• SHOOT DATE(S): Oct 13-15 & Oct 20-22 (All actors will not be needed all days)
• CAST/ROLE(S):
BONNIE (23): Female. A caring and devoted wife living in 1957. She takes pride in her role as a homemaker, ensuring her husband, Richard, is presentable for work and supporting his aspirations. Despite her contentment with their current life, Richard’s ambitious dreams of material success drive him. Bonnie’s happiness comes from the simple pleasures in life (cooking and dancing). However, she longs for a deeper connection and a chance to express her true self. Given the societal norms in the 50s, Bonnie has constrained herself in a heterosexual relationship, trying to convince herself she is happy with her husband. Sharon, their neighbor, enters Bonnie’s life and sparks a hidden desire within her. As Bonnie discovers her passion for dancing, she navigates her own journey of self-discovery and seeks a connection beyond the confines of her marriage.
SHARON (mid 20s): Female. A friendly and vivacious woman, Sharon is introduced as Bonnie’s next-door neighbor. She is a charismatic and outgoing woman who captivates Bonnie’s attention with a vibrant personality and bold sense of style. Sharon is confident and unafraid to make the first move, as seen when she initiates conversations and dance lessons with Bonnie. She values personal fulfillment and encourages Bonnie to explore her own passions and interests beyond her marriage. Unconventional and independent, Sharon strives to help Bonnie prioritize herself.
RICHARD (mid 20s): Male. A hardworking and ambitious man who is focused on his career and the opportunities it can bring for him and his wife, Bonnie. Richard is determined to succeed and secure a promotion at Rodney Samuel’s Advertising Agency, believing it will allow him and Bonnie to fulfill their dreams of a lavish lifestyle and finally start a family. Although he is often preoccupied with work, he is very loving and affectionate towards Bonnie, showing his excitement for their future together. However, he struggles with balancing his professional aspirations and personal commitments which causes him to prioritize work over spending quality time with Bonnie, sometimes neglecting her emotional needs.
JAMES (mid 20s): Male. Non-Speaking Role. A polished and charming man who is a devoted husband to Sharon. Very laid back and cool.
