Logline: Anne, a shy, Asian American actress, discovers a bold, unapologetic, and passionate side of herself when rehearsing for the role of Venus from Shakespeare’s Venus & Adonis. As she goes deeper into character, it starts to upend her relationship with her immigrant mother, who struggles to accept her new creative identity.

Character Breakdown:
Hua: 55-65, East Asian, female. An Asian mother who wants nothing better than a stable life for her child. Hua projects her own fear onto Anne, worried that her daughter is going to be treated unfairly as an Asian in America. In fact, Hua has once given up her own artistic dreams after immigrating to the States. MUST BE FLUENT IN MANDARIN. Major Supporting. Shoot 3 days. Pays $200/day.

Meng: 55-65, East Asian male. Immigrated from Taiwan and lived in America for 30 years. He has a stable job as an accountant. Quiet demeanor like his daughter. Keeps his opinions to himself and doesn’t like to create a fuss. Mandarin-speaking is a bonus point but not required. Supporting. Shoot 1-2 days. Pays $150/day.

Little Anne: 5-9, East Asian, female. A playful, imaginative dreamer. She reminds present-day Anne to use her imagination with courage and hope. English-speaking role. Supporting. Shoot 1-2 days. Pays $150/day.
