CASTING CALL: Indie Horror Short

Shoot Dates / Location: June 8-9, and June 15-16, 2024 / Los Angeles

ROLES::
MARY: female, 50’s. For thirty years, she was a devoted partner to Alan, her husband, and she never could have imagined a life without him until he became sick and passed. Now she has never felt more alone, but she holds the secret that he has been destroying her. Relentless, stern, stubborn. She needs to feel loved and forgiven by Alan despite her guilt of finding “someone else” while he was sick. (Needed all shoot dates).
Alan: male, 50’s. Mary’s husband of thirty years, who experienced a rapid decline in health prior to his passing. Calm, handsome, reserved, warm in the ways Mary remembers. Yet, there is something strangely reserved and cold about him, like there’s a piece of his soul missing. His true motive lies in punishing Mary for her betrayal and to exact revenge on her. (Needed 2 days).
HELEN: female, 40’s. A participant in the séance training program whose wish is to visit her mother, who abandoned Helen when she was a young girl. She is led by her curiosity and naivety, ultimately leading to a frightening encounter. (Needed 2 days)
RICHARD: male, 40s: A participant in the séance training program whose wish is to visit his older brother, Mark, who died tragically when the two were teenagers. It’s clear that Richard has never fully had his life together after the loss of his older brother and now has to ask Mark how to proceed with his life in the short amount of time they have together.  (Needed 2 days)
MARK: male, early 18- early 20’s. Richard’s brother who is conjured in the film’s central séance, appearing with wounds from his tragic death. He attempts to speak to his brother, Richard — and lure him into dangerous territory.  (Needed 1 day).
About the Director:
After an extensive stint as a journalist, transitioned into film, and he now loves to create doomed domestic stories that venture into suspense and horror. Now a graduate from USC School of Cinematic Arts, and has worked with multiple genre companies such as Blumhouse, NEON, and Monkeypaw Productions.

King
His first time on a big set! This is the role of a lifetime, everybody who plays royalty wins gold. He’s delighted to be here, especially as a big fan of the other actors, but… it’s not quite how he dreamed it would be.

Palace Guard
He is far too good for this role. He was literally Hamlet and now he is wearing this ridiculous hat. Think of the money. Think of the money. Think of the money. Maybe he can use this time to catch up on Duolingo or something.
