Casting Call – Supporting Role for “Dark  Matter of Anna”

Casting for a short film serving as a proof of concept for a feature-length project dedicated  to the themes of homelessness and unidentified women in the U.S. This social, non-entertainment film has been in development for three years, based on extensive anthropological research and guided by some of the top forensic anthropologists in the U.S. los Angeles

ROLE DESCRIPTION:Seeking an actor for the supporting role of Linda, a homeless woman living in a homeless encampment in Las Vegas. Linda has one dialogue scene and plays a key role in grounding the story in authenticity. This role requires vulnerability, courage, and an ability to deeply connect with the film’s themes.

BREAKDOWNS:

LEIGH (25-35) Tall, bearded, grizzled. Exhausted from the endless nocturnal hours of his food truck job, he deadens himself with booze and distraction, oblivious to the state of his failing relationship. *Must be comfortable being shirtless.*

PALOMA (20-30, preferably Latina) Dark-haired, tender, stoic. Leigh’s girlfriend. Tender and caring towards Leigh, she is pushed away from him by his own self-destructiveness. Torn by her desires for another man, she is faced with a decision to stay or to leave.

ALONSO (25-35) Tall, angular, attractive. The other man. Well-intentioned in essence, he has found himself seen as an adversary in the eyes of Leigh, who may prove to be dangerous.
