SELENE [Lead] 30’s Caucasian female. Selene is worn down by the sole responsibility of caring for two children and a mother who is an invalid. She is traumatized and tortured by a terrible family secret. She seeks escape in alcohol. Cajun accent a plus.

THIBAUT [Lead] 13 to 18+ to play 13 Caucasian male. Thibaut was forced to grow up quickly due to the loss of his father and economic hardship. He feels responsible for Coraline and tries to protect her from the potentially violent threat of Selene’s alcoholism. Cajun accent a plus. LOCAL HIRE ONLY (Southeast Louisiana).

CORALINE [Supporting) 7 to 10 (to play 7 years old) Caucasian female. Coraline is a quiet little girl who is more observant than Thibaut or Selene realize. She seeks protection with Thibaut and emotional security from her teddy bear. LOCAL HIRE ONLY (Southeast Louisiana).

MAWMAW [Supporting] 40’s to 50’s Caucasian female. Life has taken its toll on this frail woman and it shows on her face. She is Selene’s mother, confined to her bed. She is obsessed with protecting Thibaut and Coraline from their mother’s dark side. She finds strength in her love for the children. Cajun accent a plus. LOCAL HIRE ONLY (Southeast Louisiana).

AUNT JEANNE [Featured] 40’s Caucasian female. Selene’s older sister, victimized too many times by her. She seeks to distance herself from Selene.

Characters
Pastor Williams – Black Male in his 50s or older – Founder of a mega church and has several thousand members. He is known for his flamboyance, wearing tailor-made suits, driving fancy cars, and living in a mansion. He does a lot of good in the community, but some of his actions are marked by greed.

Dr. Cumming – Black Male in his late 30s-40s – Medical Doctor who is a patron at the barbershop and friends with Malik. He is very knowledgeable of history as it pertains to th mistreatment of black people in the medical industry.

Kyle – White Male in his 30s-40s – Warehouse Operations Manager and son of the owner. He is married to Jessica, a black woman, and has two bi-racial daughters. He has mixed feelings about Reparations, and it is causing hardship in his marriage and business.

Karen – White Woman in her 30s –
Accountant and sister to kyle. If “How could I be ra have black friends” were a person, it would be Karen. She works in the corporate office family business and constantly clashes with her brother Kyle.

Rick – Black Male in his 40s – Strip Club Owner/ex-professional athlete. Rick is business savvy and known around town for being a pro athlete and for his chain of strip clubs. He is a heavy hitter and was rich before reparations.

Oson – African Male in his 30s-40s – Warehouse Supervisor. Oson is Nigerian and has been in the U.S. for 15 years. He works at the warehouse with Deven, and they often clash. Oson is upset because of the reparation’s payments not only because he and his family did not receive the money, but because the company that he relies on to take care of his family is suffering due to several people quitting their jobs as warehouse workers. He has a very negative view of Black Americans.
