However in her first year at college, her mother died from cancer, and Charlotte returned home. Soon after, the totalitarian regime took over and banned all human connection. Charlotte resisted by secretly seeing her boyfriend, but when she became pregnant, she had to go into hiding. She was eventually found and separated from her child. Now she resides in The Sinking Place, hopeless and weak.
