PAID Non-union – Untitled comedy/drama short film

Filming ONLY 3 days between August 14-19, exact dates TBD, in New Braunfels, San Marcos areas.


Jackie Lee Dose – 26, F, Strong-willed and driven. She doesn’t take no for an answer too well. She manages her dad, D.W. Dose, and one of her goals is for her and her award-winning stage crew to run a perfect show. She’s been on the road with D.W. for about 4 years and now she’s got an opportunity to set up stage and run the show at the taping of her dad’s new comedy special.

Daniel Wilhelm (D.W.) Dose – 65, M, Outspoken and stubborn. He’s used to life being his way and his way only. He’s been single for about 15 years now and he’ll let you know about it. His marriage to his ex-wife and Jackie’s mother, Martinha, ended as his comedy career started to run its course so he blames Martinha for his own failures. He hasn’t sold out a crowd since then. Is it time to hang it up or keep the flame going?

Neal Arnoud – Late 50’s, M, Sharp yet reserved. He’s been D.W.’s publicist for almost 30 years. They met working comedy clubs in New York during the late 80’s. D.W.’s best man and Jackie’s godfather, he’s been a close figure in the Dose family. Jackie sees him as a father figure for what D.W. lacks. Neal can remember the smallest things about anything and makes sure to provide helpful information whenever he can.

Martinha Ramos Olton – 48, F, Hard-nosed, inquisitive and worrisome, An accountant for D.W. She married D.W. young and grew out of love with him after managing D.W. on  the road and having to raise Jackie as well. She chose to solely run his accounts but is still a big part of her daughter’s life. She remarried and lives in Southern California.

Bobby Olton – 45, M, Light-hearted and playful, He’s been married to Martinha for 7 years now. He’s a physical trainer and eats like a machine. He’ll find the funny side about anything and is serious about his wife and step-daughter.
