CHARLIE BROOKS (20-26)
thin, wiry but rough looking, messy dark hair.
Charlie was a reserved man who hid his artistic desires and sensitive self from the world. He never had the courage to go against society’s expectations and be who he truly was. Once the totalitarian regime took over, he became increasingly resentful and finally rebelled against the rules. When he touched a stranger’s hand, protesting the ban on human connection, he was banished to The Sinking Place. He finally has the courage to fight for what he believes in, now that it’s too late. He is rebellious and bold, for the first time in his life.
CHARLOTTE TAYLOR (19-23)
thin, large haunted eyes, thin messy hair, she should look frail and broken.
Charlotte was a wild teenager, always chasing an adrenaline rush and doing anything to rebel against authority. However in her first year at college, her mother died from cancer, and Charlotte returned home. Soon after, the totalitarian regime took over and banned all human connection. Charlotte resisted by secretly seeing her boyfriend, but when she became pregnant, she had to go into hiding. She was eventually found and separated from her child. Now she resides in The Sinking Place, hopeless and weak.

Rosa Minelli – Female, mid-30’s +. A highly-strung hairdresser and Antonio’s long-suffering, estranged wife

Lucia Rismondi – Female, 23. Teacher with a PHD. Antonio’s mistress

Doctor/Secret Agent – Doctor: M/F. Slightly maniacal, possibly German

Police Inspector: M. Cocksure, dodgy, dim

1st Ward Orderly/1st Secret Agent: M/F. Any age, but happy with physical comedy
